Terms of Service
Last updated · 28 April 20261. About CISDesk
CISDesk is a tool to help UK construction subcontractors track CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) deductions, log payments from contractors, and generate Payment & Deduction Statements for their own records.
CISDesk is operated by an individual sole trader based in the United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@cisdesk.app.
2. Apple's Standard EULA
In addition to these Terms, your use of CISDesk is governed by Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. You can read it at:
apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula
If there is any conflict between these Terms and Apple's Standard EULA, these Terms apply where the conflict relates to CISDesk specifically, and Apple's Standard EULA applies to your general use of the App Store and your device.
3. Not tax advice
CISDesk is not a tax adviser. CISDesk is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by HMRC. The figures, statements, and documents that CISDesk generates are for your own records and reference only.
You should always verify your figures and statements with a qualified accountant or tax professional before filing your Self Assessment return or relying on them for any official purpose.
CISDesk performs calculations based entirely on the data you enter. If you enter incorrect data, CISDesk will produce incorrect output. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of:
- Payment amounts
- CIS deduction rates applied
- Contractor details
- Tax year and tax month allocations
- Materials costs
- VAT figures (where applicable)
- Any other data you enter
4. Your data
All data you enter into CISDesk is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your data. We do not transmit it to any server. We do not store it.
If you delete the CISDesk app, your data is deleted with it, unless you have iCloud Backup enabled (see the Privacy Policy).
You are responsible for keeping your own records and backups of your tax data. We strongly recommend keeping iCloud Backup enabled and periodically exporting your statements as PDFs to an external location (email, cloud storage, etc.).
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use CISDesk for any unlawful purpose, including fraudulent tax reporting
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where such activity is permitted by law
- Use CISDesk in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the app or interfere with any other user's use of it
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any systems associated with CISDesk
6. Intellectual property
CISDesk, including its name, logo, design, code, and all related materials, is owned by the developer. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with Apple's Standard EULA and these Terms.
You retain full ownership of all data you enter into CISDesk. We have no claim to it.
7. No warranty
CISDesk is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that:
- The app will be free from errors or bugs
- The app will be uninterrupted or always available
- Calculations will be free from defects
- The app will be suitable for any particular tax situation or use case
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer of CISDesk will not be liable to you for:
- Any incorrect tax filings, HMRC penalties, interest, or fines arising from your use of CISDesk
- Loss of data
- Loss of profit, revenue, or business opportunity
- Any indirect, consequential, or special losses
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under English law
If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect your statutory rights under UK consumer protection law (including the Consumer Rights Act 2015).
9. Future paid features
CISDesk is currently free to use. We may, in future updates, introduce paid features or subscription tiers. If we do, the relevant pricing, billing, and cancellation terms will be added to these Terms in the same release that introduces them, and made clearly available to you in the app before any charge is made. All payments will be processed through Apple's In-App Purchase system, subject to Apple's standard subscription terms.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of CISDesk after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms. The current version is always available at cisdesk.app/terms.
11. Termination
You may stop using CISDesk at any time by deleting the app from your device. We may discontinue, modify, or stop providing CISDesk at any time, with or without notice.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. You and we both agree that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of CISDesk, except that if you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
13. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found by a court to be unlawful or unenforceable, that part will be removed or modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remainder of these Terms will continue in full force.
14. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with Apple's Standard EULA and the CISDesk Privacy Policy, form the entire agreement between you and the developer regarding your use of CISDesk, and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
